Hot ‘Cross Customs

‘Cross nationals may have just wrapped up, but we wanted to show off some ‘cross customs that came through recently. The impetus for these wheels was to maximize a more traditional wheel that combined light weight for racing, and superior strength for durability. The end result came out like this:
- 28h Sun Vista Cruiser tubular rims
- 28h Ultegra hubs
- Black DT Supercomp triple-butted spokes
- Red DT alloy nipples
They tipped the scales @ 1575g for the pair- a respectable weight for a relatively standard build. If these look like something you might be interested in, just head on down to your local shop and have them contact QBP- from there your friends at Handspun will make the magic happen for you. *Also- to elevate these wheels to full-on PRO level they’ve been adorned with Continental’s new prototype ‘cross tires. These new tubulars from Conti look outstanding, measuring approximately 35mm in width, with an all-condition tread pattern and an incredibly supple casing.

The best tubular rims you’ve never heard of- Sun’s Vista Cruiser. They’re 21mm wide,14mm tall, and weigh in @ 385g for the 32h version.

Nothing says PRO like Continental prototype ‘cross tubulars.

Continental ‘cross tread detail. These measure out to about 35mm wide. This tread looks great for an all-condition, fast rolling race tire.
Checkers, anyone?
